GACKT visits the memorial services in Iwate and Miyagi
GACKT (38), who established the ‘Public Cooperation SHOW YOUR HEART Foundation’ in March of last year to donate to the victims of the disaster areas, appeared at three memorial events in Iwate, Miyagi Prefecture on March 11th.
At exactly 2:46 P.M., the moment that the 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit Japan, GACKT participated in a moment of silence at Minami Sanriku Bayside Arena in Miyagi Prefecture and offered a bouquet of flowers to the memorial altar there. Afterwards he stated, “3.11 is a date we cannot forget. We need to start seeing thing in a new light so that the victims can recovery even a day faster,” and reaffirmed his commitment to the issue for the audience.
Actor Kawasaki Mayo and the members of YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz also visited the Arena along with GACKT. The organizers revealed that over 2 million yen (approximately 24,000 U.S. dollars) raised by the fund, was donated to the Japanese Red Cross in hopes of an earlier recovery.
